What is ISO 22301?
ISO 22301 is the Business Continuity Management System standard. It helps reduce the likelihood of disruptive incidents and keeps your organisation running through difficult times. You will also be able to recover more quickly.
Events such as fire, floods, natural disasters, thefts or criminal acts, IT disruption, staff shortages or even a terrorist attack can be identified, before beginning a recovery plan to minimise disruption in the running of your business.
By its very nature, a continuity planning and management system means that these problems can be identified before they happen. This allows you to put plans in place to ensure the smooth running of your critical business functions during a time of crisis.

Many organisations seek this certification to enable them to understand, develop and implement a structured and formalised business continuity management system, helping minimise risk and the chance of disruption to the organisation, identify what responses will be needed if a disruption occurs and provides the capability to adequately react in case of disruption.
Holding certification to the standard also demonstrate to stakeholders that your business continuity capability is appropriate to the size and complexity of your organisation.
Why choose ISO 22301?
Delivery: following a disruption it provides a rehearsed method of restoring the ability to supply critical products and services to an agreed level and timeframe

Make sure your certificate is UKAS accredited
Not all certificates are equal. You need to make sure your certificate is issued by a body that has been accredited by the government-recognised United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
A UKAS accredited certification body like ISOQAR undergoes regular rigorous inspections by UKAS to check we are operating to the highest standards.
This means that when you hold a certificate from a UKAS accredited body, you can be sure it’s more meaningful. Certificates that are issued by bodies which are not UKAS accredited are often not accepted.
UKAS accredited certificates are accepted across the world as evidence that you meet global standards of best practice.

How to implement ISO 22301
Once you decide to implement the standard, the first step is to learn about its best practice recommendations and compare these to your existing processes. This will help you identify any gaps or weaknesses in your current quality management systems, and give practical advice on how to improve.
The next step is to plan how to introduce the key principles of business continuity into your organisation. Update or renew your processes according to the guidelines set out in the standard, then communicate the changes internally. If you need extra support during this stage, a consultant will be able to advise you and provide you with a gap analysis pre-assessment to make sure you’re ready for certification.
Once you and your consultant are satisfied that your business continuity processes align with the principles set out in the standard, it’s time to book your certification.
We will complete a full audit of your business processes. If they meet the requirements, we will then issue you with certification.
