Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
Many people think Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery are the same thing, but they aren’t.
These two concepts have strong links with ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management and ISO 27001 Information Security Management. Interest in both of these management systems has grown in recent years and this has accelerated since the COVID-19 outbreak.
The two systems complement each other perfectly. ISO 27001 tends to relate more to IT matters (such as loss of data), and that’s where the subject of disaster recovery comes in.
On the other hand, ISO 22301 is more about how you keep operations running through a crisis. It encompasses all manner of disruptions, not just IT failures and information security.
Business continuity and disaster recovery are both key elements of building a resilient business.
This bitesize video looks in a little more detail at these topics.
