Alcumus, a leading provider of technology-led risk management solutions has secured a major deal with one of the UK and Ireland’s largest engineering firms, KTL.

Headquartered in Co. Kildare with offices across the UK, KTL offers engineering services in the telecommunications, power and utility sectors. To help streamline and manage the vetting and compliance of the firm’s 400 contractors, a three-year agreement has been finalised with Alcumus.

It will see KTL using Alcumus’ SafeContractor Client Portal to reduce the time spent conducting vetting and compliance checks by three hours per contractor - in turn freeing up around 1,200 hours a year for KTL’s workforce.

The portal brings together each contractor’s details and outstanding checks into one place, including health and safety, insurances and qualifications. This helps to mitigate against future risks and provides an audit trail of compliance. Alcumus staff will also be supporting KTL by pursuing outstanding documentation on their behalf.

Duncan Mackintosh, Director at KTL, said: “This deal with Alcumus is a game-changer for our company, as it enables us to free up a significant number of hours for our staff to focus on other business critical tasks.

“As a responsible business, we have a comprehensive checklist that each of our 400 contractors have to go through before they can start work on our behalf - which presents a huge administrative challenge in itself. So, we are delighted to be able to work with Alcumus on streamlining this process in a secure, efficient and accurate manner.”

Alcumus – which is headquartered in Cardiff and has offices in Stratford-upon-Avon, Manchester and Toronto – employs 650 staff and uses market-leading software to help businesses reduce potential risk whilst improving efficiencies in areas such as health and safety, as well as workplace processes and workflows.

Helen Jones, Chief Operating Officer, Enterprise at Alcumus, revealed that KTL are one of Alcumus’ first clients based in the Republic of Ireland, and is hopeful that the firm can build upon their overseas expansion.

She added: “To be working with a well-established company such as KTL is a real vote of confidence in our software’s ability to make significant differences to the day-to-day operations of businesses.

“As businesses grow, so does their susceptibility to risk, and as KTL have shown, it’s crucial that businesses seek professional advice and support that helps to protect against risks and create opportunities to improve the efficiency and productivity of their workforce.”
