Andrew RT Davies MS, Senedd Regional Member for South Wales Central and leader of the Welsh Conservative Party, recently visited the Alcumus team at our head office in Nantgarw, Cardiff.

The MS met with CEO Alyn Franklin for an update on our business outlook and specialist insight on health and safety and supply chain resilience in Wales and the United Kingdom. Andrew gained insight on the work we’re doing locally and our continued ambitious growth plans, which will now be accelerated due to the recent strategic investment from Apax Partners LLP.

During the visit, Alyn discussed our operations and expanding international reach and how the recent investment will support our future plans. The meeting provided an opportunity to highlight how Alcumus’ technology solutions, advice and expertise supports clients to create better workplaces and keep people safe by adopting an integrated approach to managing Health, Safety and Environment, Social and Governance factors (ESG).

In particular, Alyn was keen to share his experience of leading a Welsh business that is now operating globally. He also took time to discuss key challenges that Alcumus faces in supporting and unlocking Welsh talent, particularly given the barriers they face in the country, such as infrastructure and perceived lack of opportunity. Alyn and Andrew discussed our efforts to improve recruitment within the local area through working with universities and educational institutes to encourage enthusiastic and talented young people to seek opportunities closer to home.

Speaking after the visit, Andrew Davies said: “I was really pleased to meet with Alcumus and hear about their work driving forward with sustainability and improving standards of transparency in supply chains.

“It’s great to see that Alcumus are investing in local people and working in the local area. Alcumus is a great example of how a Welsh company can build a global footprint.”

Alyn Franklin said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Andrew Davies to our office to discuss our expertise in workplace safety and business resilience. Growing talent from within matters, not just to us but the local community across Wales. Headquartered in Cardiff, we have developed into a global business. And we have achieved this because we understand the importance of people and their aspirations, allowing us to create a fantastic place to work.

“Many young individuals who want to work for an expanding technology-driven company may feel they need to move away from home to fulfil their ambitions and that is simply not the case. We’re focused on developing our people from the communities in which we operate and take active steps to attract young talent to the sector. “It was a delight to share the progress we’re making with Andrew and the initiatives we are taking as a business to create more and more opportunities to unlock Welsh talent.”
