Kate Green OBE, the Member of Parliament for Stretford and Urmston, recently visited the team at our office in Stretford. Kate met with Sam Kitson, Vice President of Operations SME, to gain an insight on the work that we are doing locally and our continued ambitious growth plans, which will now be accelerated due to the recent strategic investment from Apax Partners LLP.
During the visit, Sam discussed our operations, expanding our international reach and how the recent investment will support the ambitious future plans. The meeting provided an opportunity to highlight how Alcumus’ technology solutions, advice and expertise supports clients to create better workplaces and keep people safe by adopting an integrated approach to managing Health, Safety and Environment, Social and Governance factors (ESG).
Sam was particularly keen to share his on-the-ground experience of recruitment, which is one of the major challenges facing employers in the local area, explaining how his team is working with local Universities and Colleges to address this issue. To improve the talent pipeline, Alcumus is working with educational institutions to offer work placements for students studying locally.
Speaking after the visit, Kate Green said: “I was really pleased to meet with Alcumus and hear more about their work, particularly how they can improve sustainability and ethical standards and support better due diligence and transparency in supply chains. As an MP, I’m aware of the challenges facing businesses locally, especially recruitment, so it’s great to see that Alcumus are investing in talent and skills at the local level. At the same time, Alcumus is a great example of how a company which is rooted in key UK locations, including Manchester, can build a global footprint.”
Sam Kitson said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Kate Green to our office and talk about how we’re supporting our customers to create a safer and more sustainable world. It’s often thought that if you want to work for a technology-driven company with an international reach, you need to move away from the local area - that’s simply not the case. At Alcumus, we’re focused on developing our team from the communities that we operate in. Our local offices and our people are at the heart of our operations, and we’re actively driving opportunities in Stretford for recruitment and upskilling.”
