At Alcumus we all share a desire to give something back and make a positive difference. That’s why, as part of our community and charitable activities, we committed to planting a tree for every employee (new and existing) in 2020.
Why choose to plant trees? Well, because they:
- Help to clean the air we breathe reducing the effects of climate change
- A mature tree can absorb an average of 48lbs of carbon dioxide per year, making cities a healthier, safer place to live
- They play a key role in capturing rainwater and reducing the risk of natural disasters like floods and landslides
- Without trees, forest creatures would have nowhere to call home
- Trees have a positive social impact, creating job opportunities
- Trees help reduce stress and anxiety, and allow us to reconnect with nature
In response to the bush fires in Australia at the end of 2019, many of our employees chose to plant their tree in Australia to help restore the damaged environment, which affected 72,000 square miles of land and sadly over 400 people lost their lives. For wildlife, it was the biggest single disaster ever recorded, with an estimated 143 million mammals, 180 million birds, and 2.5 billion reptiles killed or displaced, according to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
Working with OneTreePlanted, we’re delighted to share the news that a donation has been made on behalf of the Alcumus team. This donation will fund the planting of no less than 554 tree saplings in Australia.
OneTreePlanted is a fantastic charity, dedicated to making it easier for people and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity and help reforestation efforts around the world. All by planting trees.
